Party permits needed in South Bend?

[University of Notre Dame] When is the last time you entertained ten or more guests at your home? Well, if you live in South Bend you might need a city permit to host a get-together of that size in the future.

While it is true that the city council is considering such a rule, it is also true that the measure is aimed at a select few, and not the average Joe. The type of housing that students tend to live in is the very type of housing that is targeted in the party permit ordinance.

“The whole grandfathered non-compliance single family is predominantly going to impact where you see areas of student housing, period,” said Councilman Tim Rouse, a co-sponsor of the measure. more...
